The Book Thief
HW: RJ 8.2 p. 404-420
John read his blog and then we forgot to choose a blogger. We continued the notes on The Whistler. It starts with Rudy standing in a frozen river with a book asking Liesel for a kiss and ends that same way. In the middle we see all of the gambling it requires to hide a Jew. Liesel and Rudy go to the mayor's house and steal another book: The Whistler. Rudy does three stupid things: he steals the biggest potato, stops going the Hitler Youth meetings, and gets into a fight with Viktor Chemmel. Those three things lead to Viktor hurling Liesel's book into the river and Rudy chasing after it.
Students had the chance to work on their summaries for this part and I checked late reading journals. That was it!
